I love being in the schools and I love subbing. I cannot wait to have my own classroom and I hope that my classroom will be at an elementary school. With that said, I entered into a world I didn't realize existed today; Elementary Art Class. Yes, I know, sounds like fun doesn't it? I was excited going in and exhausted and covered in marker coming out. I swear that something changes in each child when they walk through the doors of their art class. All they can see are the markers, paints, colored pencils, and glue. As it should be in art class. But not only do they go crazy and can't seem to calm down, they somehow loose their sense of hearing. That is right folks, they go deaf. They cannot hear a word you say, an instruction you give, or even their fellow classmates. It is the weirdest thing. I have never experienced this while subbing before. I spent the day trying to determine what in the classroom was rendering them deaf, but I was unsuccessful. Needless to say, I will probably never sub in an elementary art class again :)

My grandkids get that same deafness...amazing!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds crazy, but it is wonderful when kids are allowed to be creative like that!
